American soldiers continue to anticipate more attacks by their enemies. Yet despite all of that, they remain arrogant. Wherever one looks, an American soldier is searching vehicles or patrolling the streets on foot. They are paranoid about the possibility of encountering explosives in the homes that they enter, and in the streets they walk. Some of them have established relationships with Iraqis, but for ulterior motives. American soldiers hope to one day walk on the streets of Baghdad without military equipment and armor. But how can they ever achieve this?
